Blur

The night time hours fade and blend

and I fade and blend with them before being pulled back to bleary eyed, fuzzy consciousness.

The horizon ignites, then warms

casting bold golds and optimistic pinks across the sky.

The idea of restful sleep softens and dims as the world brightens.

I attempt basic adult functions

even though my brain is dazed, my eyesight hazed

and my attempts of morning conversation made vague.

It will continue, the cycle. It always does.

The culprit behind my days and nights passing in a blur?

Insomnia.
